Dr. Daniel Durant Myers Jr. more commonly known as Danny was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1961. Growing up in the southwest he developed a love for western films and culture. In 1979 he would graduate North High School and move to Manhattan Kansas to pursue a veterinary and basketball career. A couple of years later he would transfer schools and move to California to attend the University of California, Davis where he would receive a Bachelor of Biological Science degree. While Danny was in college he would work numerous odd jobs to make a living such as begin a Correctional Officer. Danny would end up receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University starting a career in comparative medicine at the University of Michigan in 1997. At the University of Michigan where he fills the many roles as a Professor of Vascular Surgery, Laboratory Animal Medicine, and the Director of the Conrad Jobst Vascular Research Laboratories. Unfortunately, on March 28, 2013, Danny found out he definitely had prostate cancer. By the grace of god and support from loved ones Danny was able survive and uses the life threatening experience as a testimony of his faith and the gratitude that he has for the many people who have impacted him. Danny currently lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan and continues to work for the University of Michigan. He has three sons, one daughter and two loving grandchildren. Danny likes to spend his free time with his family, traveling, watching westerns, fishing, writing, and enjoying sports.
